Rose plans a romantic surprise for Mali in Home and Away

This week in Summer Bay…

MONDAY

Rose is uncomfortable around Mali following his less-than-romantic love declaration. When Mali catches up with Rose later, they come to an agreement – he’ll take it back and they pretend it never happened. Deal.

Irene is determined to have some fun with Summer Bay’s gossips and teach them a lesson for speculating about her and John. She makes a big show of putting a love heart on his coffee, and makes sure Marilyn knows that she’s his plus one for Jett’s wedding. Irene’s having a ball keeping up the ruse but John’s not so sure – Marilyn seems tense.

Tane plays the devoted husband to Felicity, cancelling bootcamp and then following her to work, prompting her to call him out for being “clingy”. Tane confesses – he’s nervous to leave her alone so soon after her assault.

TUESDAY

Felicity feels sick after receiving a blackmail text and Tane wants to contact Cash, but Felicity is adamant – her brother can’t know about this. Tane stresses they should go to the cops but it’s still a hard no from Felicity. When Cash asks Tane probing questions, he lies for Felicity and blows his brother-in-law off, but it’s clear he’s not comfortable with leaving the cops out of the loop.

Meanwhile, Marilyn is reeling from witnessing John and Irene’s “PDA” yesterday and confides in Alf – they can’t quite believe that John and Irene are together. When Alf comes into the diner later, he asks her outright – what was that kiss on the cheek about? And Irene leans in – maybe she and John are getting along better than she ever dreamed. When Xander and Mac seemingly “confirm” the gossip, Alf apologises to Marilyn – maybe something is going on between them after all.

Marilyn confides in Alf – she doesn’t mind if Irene and John are together, but why don’t they just come out and tell her? She thought they were better friends than that.

WEDNESDAY

Alf encourages Marilyn to tell John and Irene how she feels, but Marilyn’s mind is elsewhere – how’s she going to explain away her imaginary date’s absence at the wedding? Regardless, Marilyn has turned a corner – if John and Irene are happy together then she is happy for them. That’s what friends do. Nonetheless, Alf can’t resist giving John a serve later – if he’s moved on, he may as well be honest about it. Alf couldn’t care less, but it’s upset Marilyn. Overwhelmed with guilt, John confesses all to Marilyn – will she consider being his plus one?

Remi and Eden butt heads in the wake of Mercedes’ failed attempt to kiss Remi. Eden wants to know – is Mercedes coming to rehearsal? And what is Remi going to tell Kirby and Theo if she’s a no show? With no sign of Mercedes, Remi has no choice – he has to tell Lyrik that Mercedes may not be coming back. Ever.

Theo seeks out Alf for support – Justin needs help, he’s struggling. When Alf visits with Justin it’s clear what’s troubling him – Andrew and Tegan are getting on famously and Tegan’s talking about taking him to live with her. Justin says he’s afraid that Tegan can’t cope with Andrew’s needs. Alf reassures Justin – if Andrew wants to go with Tegan, it’s because Justin has given him the confidence to do so. She’s Andrew’s family after all. But Justin remains unconvinced.

THURSDAY

Tegan and Andrew have spent time with each other, and the social worker, and Tegan is keen to talk to Justin and Leah – alone. When she again raises the idea of Andrew living with her, Justin is resistant. Looking after Andrew is a big job, and Tegan’s basically a child herself. Tensions are rife, but they both agree on one thing – Andrew should have a say in his future.

When Justin approaches Andrew to float the topic, he offers an alternative – stay with him and Leah. They’ll support him. Justin is clear that it’s Andrew’s decision, but Andrew is clearly torn. Remi turns up looking for Mercedes, who has shirked her responsibilities to Lyrik following Remi’s rejection. At her motel room, Remi couldn’t be clearer – he’s in love with Bree. If Mercedes comes back to record with them, it has to be for the band, not for Remi.

FRIDAY

While Leah sympathises with Tegan following Andrew’s decision, Andrew wrestles with having lied about his choice. Theo encourages Andrew to be truthful with Justin about wanting to live with his sister, but Andrew fears hurting Justin after everything they’ve been through. Bree is frosty with Remi after overhearing him with Mercedes the night before. After giving Remi the chance to fess up, Bree corners him.

Remi explains what happened, but Bree calls him out. If it was so innocent, why didn’t he mention it earlier? Bree reminds Remi of the way she was treated in her marriage – she can’t accept this behaviour. By not telling her the truth, he’s taken her power away. Remi reiterates that nothing happened and that he’s told Mercedes that nothing can. He promises to never lie again, and a tearful Bree forgives him. However, when she’s left alone with his phone, she’s quick to snap a photo of Mercedes’ number.

Mali is on the mend and he and Rose are in a great spot after agreeing to pretend the ‘I love you’ didn’t happen, but Rose privately admits to Mackenzie that had it been said under different circumstances, she would have said it too. Rose plans a romantic surprise for Mali at the farmhouse – a candlelit dinner. She glams up for the occasion and leads him home blindfolded, but when they both set their eyes on the scene the Farmhouse has been trashed and a threatening message left – “Stay away from my wife”. Rose is rattled: “Mali, what’s going on?”
