This week in Summer Bay…
MONDAY
Bree tees up a big brekky with Remi after feeling on the outside from the recording preparation. However, once again Bree is trumped by an intervening Mercedes who poaches Remi to work on their gameplan. Bree is clearly finding it difficult to trust that Remi has no romantic interest in Mercedes and her offers of bringing lunch or surprise snacks to visit at the studio are brushed aside. Xander helps her decide that she wants to prove her trust in Remi and Bree commits to not visiting at all during the recording sessions. This is welcome news to Mercedes.
Marilyn is fielding calls and emails from the new CEO of Stunning Organics. They are holding a press conference and invite her to attend as a special guest. Stunning Organics are intending to publicise how they’ve improved, but Marilyn is not falling for it. There is no way she would betray Roo and the other victims. Not even when the invitation to attend comes with a payment of $25,000 to sweeten the deal. But before she can turn down the offer, Alf has an idea…
TUESDAY
Andrew is connecting with his sister Tegan. It’s a big transition and Theo abandons his recording preparation to be present. Tegan shares her experience of being abandoned as a child and empathises with Andrew. They really missed out as kids, but maybe they can make up for it now. Justin and Leah worry Tegan is moving too fast. There’s a lot that she hasn’t considered. But Tegan is determined to start a new life with her sibling. Even if that means she needs to slow things down a little and stay a little longer.
Marilyn is invited to join the CEO of Stunning Organics on the podium at a press conference. But she actions a plan that suddenly has an irate Alf Stewart taking centre stage. He exposes photos of Roo’s coma at the hands of Stunning Organics and Marilyn announces she was offered a bribe to be there. The CEO storms out, but Alf is only getting fired up. With a crew behind them, Alf pressures the CEO for a response, and she declares that she doesn’t care about Roo or the medical situation Roo is in. A statement Kirby has recorded. It’s an epic take-down, and ‘that old dude’ is a legend.
John is committed to cooking dinner for Irene in gratitude for her hospitality. But it’s the thought that counts when the two end up eating out. And it’s all smiles when they seem to be enjoying each other’s company at the restaurant. Perhaps a little too much?
WEDNESDAY
It’s the first of three recording sessions, and the members of Lyrik assemble for their final preparation discussions. Tensions are high. Theo’s ideas are shot down, especially by Kirby. Eden and Mercedes are never going to get along. Justin’s opinions on getting a better deal are unwelcome. But mood shifts entirely when Lyrik enters the studio. The dream is coming true! There’s jumping for joy. There’s beers. They’re ready. And they wouldn’t have made it without Mercedes.
Felicity has returned from her second counselling session, and things are going better. She is able to have a laugh with Cash who is enjoying some time off. But Tane is not joining in the laughter. He is stuck in his own head. Felicity admits to Cash – she and Tane have spent lot of time not talking lately. Felicity reaches out to him. She’s noticed he hasn’t been himself lately, but Tane can’t bring himself to open up. Tane wakes in the middle of the night and goes to the boxing ring where he can unleash his fury.
THURSDAY
Mali is under doctor’s orders to stay out of the surf. That includes teaching. He’s backed into a corner financially, and despite Rose’s support and Mackenzie’s offer to cover the month’s rent, Mali refuses all sympathy and generosity. Rose confides in Mackenzie. When she is in trouble, she turns to her family. But Mali flat-out rejects that as an option. Mackenzie encourages Rose to keep pushing. Clearly Mali needs the support right now, even if he won’t admit it to himself.
Eden wakes, buzzing from a rewarding recording session and welcomes a coffee from her swooning boyfriend, Cash. But the romance is cut short. It’s interrupted by a barrage of texts from Remi. When left in the studio alone with her, Mercedes kissed him. Remi is spiralling.
Felicity and Cash are concerned for Tane. He went out last night and didn’t come back. Cash tracks him down at the gym, and steadies the punching bag, allowing Tane to relinquish some of his anger. Felicity and Tane take a beach walk and he is finally able to open up to her. Seeing her in such pain, has been impossibly hard to bear. They are working through it together.
FRIDAY
Alf’s back in the Bay and sharing positive news of Roo’s gradual recovery. Marilyn has heard nothing from Stunning Organics after the controversial press conference, but an online article labels Alf and Marilyn local heroes. They have destroyed the reputation of the dreadful organisation, and finally that chapter of Marilyn’s life is well and truly over.
Irene and John are in high spirits when they arrive back from suit shopping, oblivious to Marilyn’s apprehension of the blossoming friendship. Xander shares his suspicions to Mackenzie that John and Irene are romantically involved, and with a little convincing, Mackenzie is also on the case to catch them out. She tries to get the jump on John, but he dances around her questions.
