Morgan Freeman calls for Black History to be fully embedded in the UK national curriculum

Today on Good Morning Britain, Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman spoke exclusively to GMB’s North American correspondent Noel Phillips, sharing that ‘Black History should be fully embedded in the national curriculum in UK schools and taught across all subjects.’

The 86-year-old veteran actor has spoken out ahead of his new documentary about an all-Black tank battalion from World War II. When asked why he believes that the story of the all-Black tank battalion is not widely known, he simply responded,

“Systemic racism… That exists in our country. This is history, let’s not run away from it, let’s embrace it and move on.”

He also went on to say,

“I find Black History Month to be just a total insult. There is so much more to history than what you can cram into 28 days. If you get into some sort of mindset that teaches our young that there is something wrong about teaching this history, that is a warp.”

Mr Freeman also said that he believes America is dogged by racism and encourages parents not to feel “guilty” in allowing their children to learn the real and unfiltered reality of racism and prejudice.
