Andrew’s obsessive behaviour is escalating in Home and Away

This week in Summer Bay…

MONDAY

Kirby and Rose’s friendship is in peril, and Rose retreats to her police vehicle to avoid a fiery Kirby.

Marilyn suggests that by ignoring warnings and not backing down on social media, she and Kirby played a part in the awful events that led up to the explosion. It’s a hard pill to swallow, but Kirby takes her apology direct to Rose at the station. They are reunited as friends when Rose is called to action. The CEO of Stunning Organics has been sighted and Rose is off to make an arrest. While Kirby and Marilyn revel in the news of Rose’s heroism, a pensive Alf returns from visiting Roo. She’s on life support and it’s sounding pretty flamin’ grim.

Andrew and Justin recruit Theo to set up security cameras around the perimeter of the Morgan house. Andrew has mapped out where they need to go and absorbs himself in the live feed to his computer screen. Leah is a little worried the cameras might be feeding Andrew’s feelings of paranoia. She consults Rose at the station, but this only affirms that given the track record of Vita Nova… the Morgan household has a right to feel on edge.

Mackenzie confiscates Xander’s phone at work, until he spills that he and Rose kissed. Mackenzie encourages him to let it go. Neither of them are in a good place and they both need space. Xander agrees he will take that on board when he meets with Kate. He asks her to think about if them spending time together is helping Kate process her grief or holding her back. Xander takes the afternoon off work to clear his head. But any hope of clarity is out the window when Kate returns, and they are entwined at his place, closing the door behind them.

TUESDAY

Felicity is suffering from her assault, and not knowing the identity of her attacker is ripping her apart. Tane and Eden praise her for attending counselling, but Felicity is frustrated at the lack of progress. Instead, she feels a need to enact vengeance on her attacker, and that can only happen if she can remember who he is.

An irate Alf presses Marilyn about the events leading up to the explosion. Of course, he’s upset that Roo’s struggling in the hospital. But he’s also disappointed Marilyn didn’t ask for his help when she needed it. Maybe if she’d reached out, he could have done something to avoid this whole flamin’ situation. Xander and Kate have spent the night together, and Rose catches them. Xander admits his complicated feelings around Jamie’s death have him acting out of character, and he admits to Rose and to himself that he’s not okay. He decides the best path forward is for him and Kate to spend time apart and both process their grief.

Mali is attempting to keep hidden the side effects he is experiencing from the explosion. But his unsteadiness and jolts of pain are not improving. He is determined to push through it at the board shop. He can’t afford any more time off, and he’s eager to prove he is recovered. Mali gears up and heads into the surf, but it only takes one wipe-out for Mali to suddenly be battling to keep his head above water.

WEDNESDAY

A battered Mali is helped out of the surf by Tane and Mackenzie. Mali acknowledges he’ll steer clear of the water for now, but without teaching surfing lessons he won’t be able to make rent. A grateful Alf comes by to thank Mali for his heroism during the explosion and if there’s anything he can ever do, just knock on his door. Mackenzie argues it’s the perfect solution, but Mali is stubborn. He’d never be comfortable asking Alf to put a hold on the rent. But Mali doesn’t have a plan B.

Felicity knocks on Cash’s office door, demanding he allow her to trawl through the footage herself from the event where she was assaulted. A reluctant Cash gives her access but calls in Tane to stop her. She’s not in the right state of mind for this. Felicity is furious. She wants to do it without anyone holding her hand. She lashes out at both Cash and Tane to let her try. But Felicity is getting nowhere and spinning in circles. She’s scared this is never going to end. When he’s alone, Cash is battling to contain his rage at the situation.

It’s welcome news for Marilyn that the CEO of Stunning Organics is pleading guilty. Marilyn is relieved this part is over but hurt that Roo continues to pay the price. A new headline in the newspaper soon reveals that Stunning Organics has a new CEO, and they continue to trade as normal. Alf and Marilyn are appalled. It’s back to business as usual for those grubs.

THURSDAY

Bree and Remi are enjoying a moment together when Mercedes roars in with a huge opportunity – she has a direct number for powerhouse music producer Reuben Phillips. Noting Remi’s reaction, Bree can tell it’s important and encourages him to go, even as her discomfort with Mercedes grows. Brainstorming ways to get through Reuben’s evasive PA, Bree is once again pushed to the outer.

Eden reinforces that Mercedes is not to be trusted so Bree decides to remind Mercedes where she stands: “You need to back off”. Eden barely has time for Lyrik as she hurries out the door. Instead, she fronts up at the police station for an update from Cash on the Felicity case. There are no new leads on the footage or the case at large and Cash is hitting dead end after dead end. Eden begs him to come home but the DNA results return from Felicity’s attacker. This could be the breakthrough he’s looking for. Eden tells Cash she knows what he’s doing – working so he doesn’t need to grapple with what happened to his sister. Alf voices his frustrations over being unable to help Roo while she’s in hospital, and for Cash, the helplessness resonates.

John is discharged from the hospital, but Bree warns that he should really have someone staying with him. Stubborn John reckons he’ll be fine on his own, but Irene intervenes. She insists John will be staying with her. John doesn’t want pity, but Irene maintains she’s only being a good friend. It doesn’t take long before John has his feet well and truly under the table, eating Irene’s breakfast and then complaining there’s too much butter on it. Has Irene bitten off more than she can chew?

FRIDAY

Remi and Bree cannot get on the same page and Bree storms out. Is Remi blind to the feelings that Mercedes has for him? Or has Bree let jealousy get the better of her? Mercedes asks Remi: will he go comfort his insecure girlfriend? Or jump on a once-in-a-lifetime career-making opportunity? Remi decides to prioritise Bree. He attempts to convince her that she doesn’t need to feel threatened.

Kirby subs in for Remi at the meeting, and she and Mercedes pull through! Lyrik has three, free sessions of studio time. Mercedes is the hero of the day, and the band celebrate her contribution, much to Bree’s dismay. John’s gratitude to Irene for letting him stay at her place is falling flat. In fact, he is driving Irene up the flippin’ wall. He is hanging around the coffee cart ‘like a bad smell’. It’s only when Irene presses him to go home and rest like he’s supposed to that he finally takes a hint. John limps away with a grumble.

Irene extends her shift to negotiate some extra time away from John, but when she returns home, John has a little something up his sleeve that might swing him back into the good books. Andrew is glued to the security camera feed on his computer, paranoid that Vita Nova will show. According to Andrew, as soon as they let their guard down, that’s when they’ll strike. Justin and Theo acknowledge Andrew’s escalating obsessive behaviour and alert Leah. Taking the opportunity over dinner, Leah and Justin attempt a reality check. It’s been a couple of days, all the doors are locked, and they won’t be turning the cameras off. An exhausted-looking Andrew finally agrees to shut down the computer and get some sleep. But when the lights go out, Andrew is back. Absorbed in the camera feed.

Home and Away airs 1:45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6:30pm on 5STAR and the series also streams on My5.
