ATV Today reporter Geoff Meade was in Gloucestershire visiting the last remaining cottage off-licence, run by Nell Dix in the village of Twyning, where ales and cider were sold from the back door to customers bringing their own containers such as jugs and bottles.
However it was a sad time as Nell Dix was retiring after 46 years at the beer house. She shares with Geoff some of her memories about her life, the customers and how things have changed since 1937.
The Old Beer House is noted as still standing, although long stopped trading. It was last sold in 1997 for £131,500.
