Lucy Fallon to reprise role as Bethany Platt in Coronation Street

Lucy Fallon is set to reprise her role as Bethany Platt in Coronation Street.

According to reports, the actress has agreed to return to the ITV1 soap in the autumn, with her first scenes scheduled to air “after Christmas”.

A source told The Sun:

“Lucy is one of soap’s most talented actresses who won lots of awards for her powerful portrayal of Bethany’s grooming storyline. Bosses reached out to her a few weeks ago about the possibility of coming back, and she discussed it with her boyfriend, and family, because she’s a mum now with a baby.

“Once they’d talked about childcare, and how best to juggle it all, she was able to say she’d love to return.”

Fallon previously portrayed Bethany from 2015-2020, winning acclaim for a storyline about sexual exploitation. The character was last seen leaving Weatherfield to take up a magazine internship in London.

Bethany has been on-and-off a part of Coronation Street storylines since June 2000. In fact, she was at the heart of the drama before she was even born due to her mum, Sarah-Louise (Tina O’Brien), being just 12-years-old at the time of her conception. The young Bethany was a part of many dramatic plots including being snatched by the Platts’ bereaved neighbour Alison Webster and accidentally swallowing an ecstasy tablet that her uncle David had stashed in one of her dolls.

In 2007 Sarah accepted a job offer from her uncle Stephen, bringing about a move to Italy for herself and Bethany. Following their return in 2015, Bethany became involved in a number of gritty plots, most notably being lured into evil pimp Nathan Curtis’ (Chris Harper) seedy web.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV and STV
