ATV Today reporter Sue Jay visited various street parties in the Birmingham area on June 7th to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
Jay interviews a man who is preparing the City of Birmingham jubilee food pack. Next in Erdington Sue talks to children in fancy dress – including a girl dressed as Hilda Ogden complete with cigarette – and talks to Pauline Bocott, local organiser of the event on Quincey Drive. The group sing God Save the Queen and then dance the conga.
Next at a different location, Sue watches a tug-of-war and interviews children about the Queen while later at Chelmsley Wood a street party begins with people saying grace followed by children eating party food. Sue Jay speaks with children including a Jubilee ‘Queen’. There is also footage of decorated houses and another group of people singing the National Anthem.
