OTD 1980: Variety Club of Great Britain ‘Tribute to Crossroads’

On this Day, May 19th, 1980…

The Variety Club of Great Britain host a tribute to the Crossroads television series which aired on ITV, and was produced by ATV in Birmingham. The celebration event, hosted by comedian Bob Monkhouse – who had also appeared in the daily soap in the sixties, was held at the Nite Out Theatre Club in Birmingham.

Tony Maycock interview with the four remaining original characters played by Noele Gordon, Jane Rossington, Sue Hanson and Roger Tonge and with Tony Morton, and Sue Nicholls, who were amongst the former cast members who attended the event. We also see some of the members of the public who attended the function talking to their favourite characters, including David Hunter (Ronald Allen) and Mrs. Hunter (Sue Lloyd). Also a shot of Noele Gordon with Larry Grayson and producer Jack Barton and actor Paul Henry.
