Dermot O’Leary & Vernon Kay are favourites to replace the former Going Live! host on ITV’s long-running daytime magazine show.
“I’m not sure what ITV’s obsession is with the silver fox, he’s not exactly in the league of Cilla Black, who you would find difficult to initially replace as they’re so associated with a show. Everything he hosts from Dancing on Ice to The Cube can be presented by any competent presenter.” – TV Critic Vivian Summers
The bookies have got in on the action following several newspaper stories suggesting all is not well behind the scenes of the programme that Holly and Philip have hosted together for nearly 15 years.
Things seemed to turn sour last year when the pair, for no actual media reason, fast-tracked themselves into view Queen Elizabeth II laying in state, while the public queued for hours to get a glimpse of the royal coffin. Then there was Philip’s brother’s perversion and court case and now a newspaper reports a member of the This Morning team had to leave the programme due to ‘issues’ with one of the on-screen personalities.
Holly and Philip have hosted This Morning together since 2009.
Added to this there had been reports of rifts with former co-hosts Fern Britton, Amanda Holden and Ruth Langsford.
William Hill Spokesperson, Lee Phelps:
“If the rumours are to be believed then Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby’s friendship is very much on the rocks. Schofield’s head is the one that seems to be on the chopping block when it comes to the host of This Morning and we make him a 7/4 chance to no longer be the presenter of the ITV show by the end of the week.
“Dermot O’Leary and Vernon Kay remain the 5/2 favourites to replace him if he does leave the role, with Rylan Clark Neal and Andi Peters next best at 5/1.”
