Rakuten TV, one of Europe’s leading streaming platforms, this month enriched its FAST channels portfolio with one of the most renowned global brands of inspirational talks: TED: Ideas worth spreading.
The channel, which features videos from influential expert speakers on education, business, science, technology, and creativity, is now available on the platform in the UK, Netherlands, and Nordics.
TED is a non-profit organisation headed by Chris Anderson that has become extremely popular for its annual TED Conference and TED Talks, which cover a broad spectrum of topics including science, art and design, politics, education, culture, business, global affairs, technology, development, and entertainment and have featured some of the world’s leading personalities in their respective fields, including Nobel Prize winners and World Leaders.
It is an organisation that has revolutionised the information sector related to technology, entertainment, and design, and its work has been recognised by various institutions including winning multiple Peabody and Webby Awards.
TED counts on premium partnerships to promote its educational content to disseminate the knowledge of its experts in their respective areas. The collaboration with Rakuten TV brings over 40 TED shows to the platform, available 24/7 for free. Highlights include programmes such as:
- Did You Know…?, which will confront the viewer with a different brilliant mind on an intellectual level.
- Morning Motivation, which will be based on tips for setting and achieving short-term, long-term and medium-term goals.
- The Latest in Ideas, which will explain innovative and ground-breaking ideas from some of the most brilliant personalities of our time.
- And, Universe of Mystery, which unravels some of the most fundamental but unexplained mysteries of the cosmos and finds some answers along the way.
Four of the shows – Did You Know…?, Riddle Us This, Overlooked History and What in the World? – will be in the format of TED-Ed animated series, to add a twist of fun to educational content aimed at teenage and adult audiences.
Diversity and inclusion also have a deep focus on the channel, with TED talks led by women who are making history in their respective fields: Jane Goodall, Serena Williams, Gloria Steinem, Lizzo, Greta Thunberg and Hannah Gadsby. All of them will be leading their shows talking about topics related to their lives or areas of expertise.
