One Foot in the Grave: 30 Years of Laugher.
It’s been over twenty years since One Foot in the Grave, one of our best-loved and most unconventional sitcoms, came to a shocking end by killing off its leading man: the permanently prickly Victor Meldrew.
Created by celebrated comedy writer David Renwick and starring Richard Wilson as the inimitable Victor, One Foot in the Grave was one of our best-loved yet most eccentric sitcoms.
This 90-minute special celebrates all things ‘Grave’ – featuring interviews with the main cast including Richard Wilson himself, Angus Deayton and Doreen Mantle and stars who made guest appearances over the years including Paul Merton, Jan Ravens and Arabella Weir.
One Foot in the Grave can often be seen rerun on UKTV Gold.
The documentary hears about the fun of filming and what happened when the cameras stopped rolling. Members of the crew reveal the tactics they used to appease the residents who’d loaned their houses to the production, we learn how many puppies were used to film one of the sitcom’s most memorable moments, and One Foot’s main man talks about the curse of being saddled with one of comedy’s most iconic catchphrases.
Celebrity fans James Dreyfus and John Sergeant tell us what it is about One Foot in the Grave that had nearly eighteen million of us glued to our televisions every week. With classic clips and exclusive on-set photos, it’s time to tether the tortoise and put down that puppy because tonight… you’d better believe it.
Of course, fans of Victor and his calamities can regularly see re-runs of the show on UKTV Gold.
