OTD 1981: ‘Avid junk collector’
On this Day, April 13th 1981…
ATV Today reporter John Swallow interviewed Arthur Allen from Brimfield in Herefordshire, an avid junk collector. At the time of the report, he was searching for pieces of barbed wire which he sent to America to be sold to collectors there.
Allen, 75, explains that old barbed wire over a century old is highly collectable in the USA and that he searches farmland in the Midlands trying to find examples.
