BBC Introducing Scottish Act of The Year 2023 winner announced

Out of over 500 hopefuls from all over Scotland, VLURE, Terra Kin, The Big Day, and The Queen of Harps made it to the final to perform in front of a live audience in Platform in Glasgow on Wednesday night (29.3.23).  Terra Kin emerged as the winner.

Speaking about their win, they said:

“I am are absolutely thrilled and honoured to have won the BBC Introducing Scottish Act of The Year 2023 award. I want to thank the judges and everyone who supported us throughout this incredible journey. It’s great to see the Scottish music scene thrive. I can’t wait to see what the future holds and will continue making music that connects with people. Thank you!”

KT Tunstall, Gemma Bradley (Radio 1), Arielle Free (Radio 1), Sam McTrusty (Twin Atlantic), and Jack Cochrane (The Snuts) were among the judges of the final, which was hosted by BBC Introducing in Scotland presenters Shereen Cutkelvin and Phoebe I-H.

Terra Kin will receive two recording sessions with BBC Radio Scotland, a spot at Scotland’s largest music festival TRNSMT, a bespoke PR campaign, and the opportunity to play the BBC Introducing Stage at R1 Big Weekend.

“BBC Radio Scotland are proud to invest in young musical talent in Scotland across all genres of music and support them early in their careers. Congratulations to Terra Kin and all the finalists for their outstanding performances and contributions to Scottish music!”

Audiences can hear the final on BBC Radio Scotland on Friday, March 31 at 8pm.  It will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer from Tuesday, April 4, and on the BBC Scotland channel on Saturday, April 8 at 10pm.
