Jamie Oliver shows us how to create deliciously tasty, family-friendly recipes that can each be made for a quid a portion or less.
From simple tips and tricks to make everyday ingredients go further to meals that can be cooked from scratch in a microwave and even some that don’t need cooking at all, Jamie shows us the different ways meals can be cooked to save time and money. In this episode, Jamie celebrates frozen ingredients to create a scrumptious fish pie, with an amazing tip for using potato skins as a deliciously crispy topping… it’s a proper catch.
He whips up a spicy one-pan chicken and fluffy rice dish to help save on energy and time, while his creamy cauliflower cheese spaghetti is a sumptuous way to hero frozen cauliflower, with an oozy sauce packed full of vegetables and a brilliant tip for garlicky breadcrumbs using leftover bread to pack in extra flavour. Jamie also knocks up a big batch of smoky minestrone soup, using odds and ends of pasta and veg.
And he invites one of his old students, Big Has, to share his ideas on low-cost cooking; with family heritage being at the heart of his cooking he knocks up some koftes that use age-old techniques to give you the biggest Mediterranean flavours from the fewest ingredients. Jamie tops it all off with a super-quick chocolaty microwave pud: something for everyone to enjoy.
