OTD 1967: Why do we give Chocolate Eggs at Easter?

ATV Today reporter John Swallow asks the people of Birmingham if they know why Chocolate Eggs are given over the Easter weekend. John hands out small chocolate eggs to those vox popped.

One suggests it is to do with Pagan religion, another thinks it may be to do with rebirth. Someone else thinks it might be a yoke joke, or to do with spring and the chickens. Another thinks the egg is a symbol to represent the shape of the stone which covered Jesus Christ’s cave when he was locked inside.

The second guess is nearest the truth…
