Taskmaster in three year deal with Channel 4

Taskmaster, which began on UKTV before switching to Channel 4, has been renewed for a further six series.

The Taskmaster is, of course, man-mountain Greg Davies, and as ever, he is assisted by his tiny administrative wonk, Alex Horne. Five comedians battle it out over several weeks, with one hopeful aiming to take away the Taskmaster crown. The show features ever-changing tasks, designed to test the ingenuity and creativity of the talented contestants, from teapot decorating to footwear-catapulting. During the weird and wonderful challenges, Greg’s PA Alex Horne observes; making notes, recording times and gorging on pure, unadulterated stats.

The original programme and format combined has been sold into 106 countries, with 140 episodes of the format being made outside the UK including local versions of the show produced for VTM in Belgium, TVE in Spain, and TVNZ in New Zealand, and a second series for Discovery in Norway, a fourth series for TV2 in Denmark, as well as two brand new series for MTV in Finland, and an award-winning fifth series for STV in Sweden.

The UK original programme, which aired on UKTV’s Dave channel, is produced by Avalon.
