Aggie MacKenzie on Kim Woodburn rift: ‘We’re chalk and cheese’

Aggie MacKenzie has spoken about the rift between herself and Kim Woodburn.

The former co-hosts shot to fame on Channel 4 cleaning series How Clean Is Your House? in 2003. Each episode saw the pair tackle household grime while sharing their tips with viewers.

The show ran until 2009, however, MacKenzie and Woodburn ceased speaking to one another off-camera in 2007 after clashing at a pantomime in Brighton.

Speaking to GB News about the rift between them, MacKenzie said:

“I think we’re chalk and cheese. Because of the friction there was between us, it created this energy and so we knew how to be in front of the camera. I mean, most of it was ad lib.

“I think for her [Kim] it’s kind of normal to have conflict and I think that if things are calm and easy, I think she found that quite difficult. That’s not me, I like it easy peasy. There were lots of highs, and a few lows.”

MacKenzie previously spoke of the reason behind their falling out on Channel 5’s Jeremy Vine in 2019, explaining that there was an incident whilst they were starring in a pantomime together in Brighton in 2007.

“We were in the wings, there was a cue for us to come on. Kim hadn’t heard it and I tapped her on the shoulder to go forward. She went forward [and] we did our scene and as I was leading to come out the other side Kim pushed me really hard and I nearly fell over. I was really angry. She couldn’t cope with me and my presence, really.”

She was subsequently interviewed by The Sun newspaper, noting: “I lost my rag with her. I said ‘You’ve really overstepped the mark now!’. She didn’t apologise and I thought, ‘Right, there’s a line drawn here!’. We carried on working together for quite a while but the only speaking we did was on camera.”

Woodburn denied the claims at the time.
