ATV Today saw Ruth Elliott report on the Victorian chimney at Edgbaston Waterworks which after six years under threat was to be saved from demolition.

Ruth interviewed James Thompson of the Victorian Society about why he is campaigning to preserve the chimney. The items also featured an interview with Edward Morris, who had worked at the site when it was in operation.

Mr Morris had no sentimental attachment to the building and noted that he has no thoughts about it and that it has served its purpose and is finished with its working life. He also talks about the poor condition of the brickwork.

The buildings were designed by John Henry Chamberlain and William Martin around 1870. The engine house, boiler house, and chimney since this report have been granted Grade II listed building status.
