Henry Cavill is bookmaker William Hill’s new outright favourite to become the next James Bond.
The British actor, who recently announced he would not be reprising his role of Superman following talks with DC bosses, has seen his price drop to 7/4 after a flurry of support over the Christmas period, edging him ahead of Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the betting.
That price sees Cavill leapfrog Taylor-Johnson as the new favourite to replace Daniel Craig, with the latter’s odds easing to 2/1 following the events over the past two weeks. Bridgerton actor Rege-Jean Page has also attracted recent support and is now a 11/2 shot to land the role.
William Hill Spokesperson, Lee Phelps:
“After weeks of speculation that Aaron Taylor-Johnson was primed to land the sought-after role of James Bond, another twist in the search sees Henry Cavill emerge as the new favourite to replace Daniel Craig.
“Cavill’s new price of 7/4 sees him nudge ahead of Taylor-Johnson (2/1) as the outright favourite in the market, having been as big as 6/1 in the middle of December. Whilst it seems like a two-horse race between the pair, also keep an eye out for Rege-Jean Page, whose price of 8/1 a fortnight ago has been cut to 11/2 following a surge of support for the Bridgerton star.”
