Fiona Wade quits Emmerdale role

She is set to leave the soap in the coming months, ITV say

Emmerdale star Fiona Wade has quit her role as Priya Sharma in the soap.

ITV has confirmed an article in a tabloid that the actress is set to bow out of the show. She will film her final scenes as Priya in the upcoming months, a source for the broadcaster said.

As of now, no details about the actress’ exit storyline are known, but it is believed that she wants to pursue other projects.

She has been a member of the Emmerdale cast since 2011, taking over the role of Priya from Effie Woods.

Priya’s storylines included relationships with multiple characters, overcoming an eating disorder, and regaining her confidence following severe burns from serial killer Meena Jutla.

Wade is the latest in a string of stars to depart the ITV saga; last week’s 50th anniversary episodes saw Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton) and Liv Dingle (Isobel Steele) killed off as dangerously high winds hit the village, while Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) recently took her own life during a heartbreaking cancer storyline.
