It’s not until Toadie and Mel offer a similar sentiment later, that Grant realises he may have been too over-protective, but has he left it too long?
Byron is suspicious that his mum’s being cheated on and tries to get more info on the Danielle/Clive connection. Meanwhile, Nicolette’s doing her own detective work on Byron. But when she confronts him, he reveals they’ve got a much bigger problem at hand…
Amy’s fed up with the complicated world of online dating. It’s all dud dates, mind games and being ghosted. She confides in Nicolette that she just wants a nice man to spend some quality time with. When Nicolette tells her about an unconventional way of dating her friend tried, Amy gets an idea…
Wednesday: Home from their break, Karl and Susan are confronted by how closed off Mackenzie is. They encourage her to clear the air with her dad, but she has no desire to. Little do they know, the surprise arrival of a beloved friend could make all the difference…
Amy’s misadventures in the romance department prompt her to think about what she wants most. Toadie’s rock solid support through this reads as more than friendly to Zara, who begins to believe he has unacknowledged feelings for Amy too. Is Zara’s hunch right?
Byron is determined to find proof that Clive is cheating on Jane. Frustratingly, he hits a couple of dead ends, but working with Nicolette brings the pair closer and allows them to see eye to eye in a way they never have before.
Thursday: Amy avoids Toadie and Melanie as they celebrate their engagement. Zara’s heart breaks for her mother, but as she laments the unfairness of the situation to Harold, she starts to suspect he’s not so excited about the development either…
Paul continues to feel anxious about David, and his day is made worse by the arrival of a notoriously difficult guest holding a conference at the hotel. Seeing how overwhelmed Paul is, Terese secretly steps in to handle all the issues behind the scenes, loving being back in her element.
Friday: Despite worrying Emma will continue asking “favours” of her, Freya takes comfort that her actions have kept David safe. But when Emma asks her to do another job at the same time she’s due in court to be sentenced, Freya and Aaron are plunged into a whole new world of stress.
Harold refuses to help Zara break Toadie and Melanie up, but promises to look into her concerns. He asks Amy for her opinion on Melanie’s dependability, and Amy decides to put her own feelings aside and speaks highly of Mel… but Zara’s listening in and won’t drop the matter just yet.
Mackenzie is still struggling with her grief and inability to eat. Identifying with her distress, Harold opens up to her about his own journey through grief. As Harold counsels her, Mackenzie feels stronger for the first time in a long time.
Neighbours, Monday to Friday, 1.45pm and 5.30pm
Monday: The beach has been turned into a crime scene. Police tape surrounds the body on the sand. Rose & Cash assess the body for injury, deducing that there are indications of violence. The cause of death is yet to be determined by the coroner, but it is being treated as suspicious. The coroner’s report comes back concluding that time of death was in the last 2-3 days. Cash & Rose surmise that the body must have been dumped otherwise it would have been found sooner. While they await further information from the coroner, Cash & Rose delve into their investigation into PK.
Finding courage, Mackenzie seeks Logan out in his hiding place – at the Parata’s house. An apologetic Mackenzie begs Logan to come home so they can work through their problems. But having just learnt that Mac almost slept with PK to pay off her debts, Logan is furious, in disbelief that she would choose PK over Logan’s offer of help. A tearful Mackenzie explains it was due to pride – she didn’t want Logan to look at her the way he is now. An outraged Logan drops that PK is dead, so Mac’s life is about to get a whole lot messier. So, in answer to her question, he will not be coming home because their relationship is over.
An apologetic Jasmine checks in with Xander after her intervention re: Millie. But Xander is curt and quick to brush off a bruised Jasmine. Later finding a distressed Xander running on the beach, pushing himself beyond his limits, Jasmine presses him to come clean. With nobody to turn to, Xander tells Jasmine about Millie’s threat against him. Jasmine empathises with Xander – if Millie was using her phone while driving before the accident, she needs to tell the police. But Xander has a complicated past that Millie plans to use against him.
A sympathetic Jasmine hears the story of how Xander fell for a woman in an abusive relationship, who later used him to inspire jealousy in her abusive partner. In the end, Xander had an AVO taken out against him for harassment, despite only trying to help the woman. Taking up Xander’s cause, Jasmine invites Millie for a coffee. Jasmine pleads with a reluctant Millie – does she really want another lie on her conscience?
Tuesday: Ziggy’s bright morning is interrupted by a disturbing call from Dean – he’s at the police station being interviewed. A frantic Ziggy shows up at the station wondering what is going on. Clocking Ziggy’s apprehension, Rose subtly inquires how Ziggy knew PK. Realising she’s said too much, Ziggy sits and waits for Dean in silence. Cash asks Ziggy to confirm Dean’s whereabouts on the afternoon of the murder. Ziggy is quick to reply that he was home with her since she took the afternoon off work. Cash & Rose are suspicious – Ziggy seemed jumpy. And they noticed grazing on Dean’s knuckles…
Desperate to keep the poker nights under wraps, Felicity tries calling Mac & Nathan to give them the heads up about the police investigation into PK’s murder. Tane warns Felicity about getting too involved and drawing police attention. Felicity counters that they are already involved, she’s not making it any worse. Eager to lift her spirits and see the positives, Tane suggests they go out for a walk in the sunshine. Felicity is cautiously optimistic about Tane’s recovering health.
Mackenzie’s heart is in her throat when she receives a call from Cash requesting an interview at the station.
Wednesday: Still reeling from Emmett’s offer to be his photographer’s assistant in New York, Bella seeks out Nikau for a talk. Before Bella gets the chance to explain, Emmett intercepts them turning Nikau hostile. What is Emmett even doing here? Emmett brings back terrible memories of a time when all seemed lost for Bella & Nikau.
Eager for a distraction from being dumped by Logan, Mackenzie reconnects over a drink with Emmett wondering why he’s back from New York. Their old flame still has heat and it shows.
Alf gives a heartfelt thank you to Justin for all his & Leah’s help. Roo & Martha are doing well post-transplant surgery, no small thanks to all the community generosity. Alf jokes that if Roo were doing any better she’d be running the flamin’ hospital. Justin’s glad to hear it. Feeling the post-op relief, Roo & Martha attempt some walks around the hospital. It’s baby steps, but in the right direction.
Thursday: It seems the whole of Summer Bay is on board with Chloe & Theo’s fledgling romance. An overcurious Leah presses Theo for details on their relationship. Is it serious? Squeamish and embarrassed, Theo is coy, keeping it under wraps. But his smiles are a dead giveaway. Dissatisfied, Leah recruits Justin to get the details. A nosy Leah keeps up the intelligence gathering, starting with Marilyn.
What does Marilyn know about Chloe’s feelings? Is she in the right head space for a relationship? Not wanting to betray Chloe’s trust, Marilyn encourages Leah to discuss it with Theo. Seeking a perfect opportunity to assess Chloe’s intentions, Leah proposes a family dinner & asks Theo to invite Chloe along. Justin is amused by Leah’s manoeuvring.
Nikau is still undecided about whether to go to New York with Bella.
Roo is taking a stand, refusing to leave the hospital without Martha. Alf & Marilyn assure Roo that they can advocate for Martha’s care in Roo’s absence, but Roo won’t hear a word. Mother & daughter agreed to go through this surgery together, and Roo isn’t about to leave Martha alone before she’s recovered.
A frustrated Nikau is short-tempered with John at work. The New York dilemma is wearing him down. John is understanding, either way Nikau is letting someone down, the surf club or Bella.
Friday: Jasmine worries for Xander, who is unsettled following Millie’s threats.
A humiliated Theo corners Leah in the kitchen preparing dessert. How could she just interrogate Chloe with personal questions like that? Leah counters that she was just looking out for her nephew. Justin backs Theo on this one – that was seriously uncool. Feeling attacked, Chloe excuses herself early before dessert.
Seeing Logan looking deflated the next day, Jasmine & Xander check in with him. Logan has been hit with bad news – he’s been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death.
Taking heed of Leah’s warning, Chloe seeks Theo out for a talk about their relationship. Fearing the worst, Theo says he understands if Chloe wants to dump him because his family is insane. But a grinning Chloe thinks the opposite: she wants to be Theo’s girlfriend. The two young lovers share a heartfelt kiss on the beach, happy to know that they are on a good track together.
