OTD 1979: May Day in the Midlands

On this Day: May 1st 1979.

ATV Today visited Oxford and Tamworth to see some of the May Day activities.

First of all it was over to Oxford, where the streets were filled with students celebrating, also tourists and local people wearing flowers, then it was over to Amington Heath Primary School, Tamworth, where children danced round a Maypole built by their mothers.

Reporter Rob Whitehouse talks to some of those involved about the meaning of May Day celebrations.
