About Katelyn Katelyn Benton is a singer, songwriter, and pianist whose dreamy and dark alt pop connects the mysterious dots between Debussy and Disney movie soundtracks with an introspective, whimsical touch.
Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, KB is currently living and working in Los Angeles. Granddaughter to a professional concert pianist, KB began practicing piano as a toddler, sitting next to her grandmother at a Steinway concert grand and continued classical training through high school. At 11-years-old KB began writing original music and performing locally. Throughout high school, KB performed with her band, traveling as far as New York to play The Bitter End. KB was awarded a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston where she studied songwriting
and music business.
After graduation, KB moved to Los Angeles where she went on to write and work with film composers Scott Nickoley and Ryan Franks on a variety of film and television projects. She won the Best Music Video award at the Just Plain Folks awards in Nashville, beating big budget entries including one from Bon Jovi, with the video to her song “Impossible Love”, which cost just $200 to make.
