Telly Today highlights for Friday, June 11.

BBC Two

Jools welcomes comedian, writer and music lover Romesh Ranganathan, who is best known for his show The Ranganation as well as hosting Have I Got News for You and presenting his own music podcast Hip Hop Saved My Life, with its most recent series featuring guests such as Dizzee Rascal, Lianne La Havas and Chuck D. Romesh delves into the Later archive to unearth some of his favourite performances from the show.

Making her performance debut on the show is bandleader, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer Emma-Jean Thackray, who is best known as a key artist and trumpet player on the London contemporary jazz scene. Filmed at the Round Chapel in Hackney, Emma-Jean will be performing her new single Say Something, the first track to be lifted from her forthcoming debut album Yellow, which will be released via her own Warp Records-affiliated label Movementt. It’s a record she says she approached ‘by trying to simulate a life-changing psychedelic experience.’

Also returning to the show and filmed at the Real World studios in Bath is the legendary Van Morrison, who shares a number from his recently released 42nd studio album Latest Record Project Volume 1, a double album of 28 new songs that sees the king of Celtic soul write a straight-talking commentary on contemporary life and delve into his ongoing love of blues, R&B, jazz and soul.
