Phillip Schofield thanks Eamonn and Ruth for support

This Morning presenter Phillip Schofiled has tweeted for the first time since his announcement that he is gay.

Phillip and Holly are the regular hosts of ITV’s This Morning, Monday to Thursday.

Phillip made the revelation on Instagram and then spoke about his decision to come out with his co-host and close friend Holly Willoughby on Friday’s (7th February) This Morning.

As his emotional chat with Holly drew to a close, Phillip was embraced by fellow This Morning presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, who were there to host the last edition of the week as normal.

At 8.19pm Schofield tweeted to his 4.5 million followers that Eamonn and Ruth were “utterly magnificent” today, adding that he “adores them both.”

“Can I just say that @EamonnHolmes & @RuthieeL were utterly magnificent with me today, privately downstairs just the three of us and upstairs in front of the world. I couldn’t have hoped for a better, calming and loving set of hugs and support, I adore them both.” – Phillip Schofield

Phillip comes out to the nation on This Morning, talking to friend, and co-host, Holly Willoughby.

Some viewers didn’t see the funny side when Eamonn joked that Phillip’s wife allowing him to sit in a hot tub with Holly now makes sense. However, Phillip stated in a further tweet that Eamonn had “lightened a very emotional moment” with the remark and that he’s “very happy that he did.”

Ruth’s on-screen support of Phillip comes after reports in the press of a falling out between the pair. In December The Sun claimed that Ruth had, earlier in the year, lodged an official complaint against Phillip after he interrupted her during a Loose Women preview. This Morning joins the loose ladies every day as they reveal what is to come on their show, which follows in the schedule and features Ruth as a panellist.

Earlier tabloid reports noted a clash between Phillip and former This Morning stand-in presenter Amanda Holden. Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda was said to be miffed after Phillip blocked plans for her to appear alongside him on the magazine show in 2018, while Holly was in Australia co-hosting I’m A Celebrity.

Eammon and Ruth offered Phillip support on This Morning, this morning.
