Adam Hills to front rugby documentary for Channel 4

Adam Hills: Take His Legs is a brand new 60 minute documentary for Channel 4.

The one-off special follows the comedian and The Last Leg host as he goes on a personal, physical and emotional journey to live out his boyhood dream to play competitive rugby league.

“Playing Physical Disability Rugby League has been one of the greatest adventures of my life. I’m so glad we brought a camera with us, because it took me to places I never expected. Like Wakefield. More than that though, it has shown me the power that sport has to change lives.” – Adam Hills

As a die-hard rugby league fan and the driving force behind establishing the first PDRL (Physical Disability Rugby League) team here in the UK, the documentary follows Adam as he and his Warrington Wolves teammates prepare for an important game.

Travelling to the other side of the world, the team play against the South Sydney Rabbitohs at the world famous ANZ Stadium in Australia at the first ever International Club Challenge to prove themselves the best in the world – and even get the chance to meet movie star and Rabbitohs owner Russell Crowe.

The documentary also looks at mental health, PTSD, and the impact of sport and teamwork on the emotional well-being of a team who have now formed a remarkable bond and support network for each other.

“It’s been an absolute joy to commission this inspiring and thought provoking film. The story goes beyond the sports field into the lives of these incredible men to show the highs and lows of achieving their life’s dream. It’s very funny as well.” – Fozia Khan, Commissioning Editor for Channel 4

Hills, who was born without a right foot, has spoken about his love for rugby league on several occasions and has praised the PDRL for giving those who “thought they would never play” a chance to pursue the sport.

Take His Legs is produced by Noah Media Group.
