Tim invites Gina to move in with him and when Sally phones home, Gina plays her and Tim off against each other. At the Street Cars Christmas party at the Bisto with Eileen, Steve and Tracy, Tim hits the bottle. A drunk Tim angrily declares his wife did the dirty so it’s time he did the same and Gina enters and listens, intrigued.
After being kicked out of the Bistro, Tim stands atop the fire escape on Victoria Street singing carols and Gina climbs up to fetch him down. An emotional Tim admits he misses Sally but back at No.4, a maudlin Tim thanks Gina for being there and plants a kiss on her.
Meanwhile, Johnny’s shocked by Jenny’s black eye while Gemma is suspicious of the facial marking. Later as Jenny and Johnny row about Liz, Jenny misses her footing and falls down the stairs.
Elsewhere, Eileen’s taken aback when Seb explains that as he can’t adopt the twins until he’s 21 he needs her to apply for joint guardianship with him; Sally tries to encourage Abi to stay on the straight and narrow; and Cathy begs Yasmeen to give Brian this year’s Father Christmas role at the Community Centre to boost his confidence.

Jean accidentally throws away her medication. The Slaters sense that something is amiss with Jean, unaware that she is struggling with Hayley’s secret and running the choir. Stacey turns to Max for advice and later makes a worrying discovery.
Meanwhile, Karen and Kim compete for the solo spot and feeling the pressure, Jean makes a snap decision. Later, Jean is excited when she finds a Christmas present from Ian.

As the McQueens come together for Christmas dinner things are tense between Goldie and Mercedes, and Mercedes soon snaps and dumps the contents of a gravy boat on Goldie’s bonce. There are more shocks to come when the police arrive with an announcement about Russ’ killer. Is everyone about to discover it was Sylver’s mum Breda who bumped him off?
Elsewhere, Lily drags Prince to the hospital to find out his results; Grace forces a downbeat Liam to celebrate Christmas with her and Curtis but it all goes wrong.

Zara confides in Emma that she is worried that Daniel might not come back this time. Emma convinces Zara to come out to the party, though Zara is reluctant at first. Zara is touched when Valerie tells her that she has managed to get hold of a present that Joe wants.
Valerie gathers announces that the new party plan is a pub crawl with a Christmas hats theme. Al is about to back out when Zara, still thankful to Valerie, steps in and insists he come. Drinks are on her and Daniel. As the evening goes on, slowly people drop out until eventually Sid and Zara are left alone.
After sharing a taxi, Sid finds himself in Zara’s hallway, a bit tipsy. She is in a playful mood, and reveals Joe isn’t here and that Daniel has left. She teases him, and then kisses him. They disappear upstairs.
Elsewhere, Laura tells Ruhma that she is pregnant and would like to accept the loan; Gordon helps Mrs Tembe see a way through her crisis of faith, and they have a heart to heart about the past.
