Pick of the Plots: Tuesday April 18th

SoapWorld takes a look at the latest goings on in River City, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors this Tuesday.

SoapWeek: River City

Annie’s night out with sister Lorna is interrupted when she meets Faith, a woman who takes a bad turn at the club. Annie sees that she’s seriously unwell and urges her to seek medical help but Faith is more concerned about getting back to her client. Suspecting the worst, Annie challenges Alex about prostitutes operating in his club. However, it’s not long before Annie’s efforts to help Faith puts them both in jeopardy when it’s discovered Rick’s behind the operation.

Greig’s none-too-happy to learn Lorna drunk texted her ex, Andy, and blames Annie for encouraging her. Later, Frankie overhears Greig and Annie argue about a past incident. She puts the pieces together and confronts Annie with the secret, knowing it will send shockwaves through the family.

Elsewhere, Robbie is left reeling when his mum, Suzie, considers throwing a divorce party; Alasdair comes to Jules’ aid when he discovers she’s homeless, arranging her lodgings at the Tall Ship, however, his act of charity proves costly when Suzie asks for rent money.

River City, Tuesday at 8pm on BBC One Scotland.


SoapWeek: EastEnders

An emotional Tina prepares for Sylvie’s funeral but is disappointed by the turnout. Tina struggles through her eulogy.

Back at The Vic, Tina is touched to find Sylvie’s old friends waiting for her but their attention soon turns elsewhere when they learn Linda has sent a new bar manager to help at The Vic – Woody. Upstairs, things go from bad to worse when disaster strikes.

Elsewhere, Sharon encourages Louise to apologise to Bex while Sonia pays a visit to the school. Steven is upset when Lauren turns down his suggestion to have more children.

EastEnders, Tuesday at 7.30pm on BBC One. Repeated at 10pm on UKTV channel ‘W’.


SoapWeek: Emmerdale

Adam and Victoria are apprehensive ahead of their private fertility tests – funded by Diane – but Moira has her hopes pinned on a grandchild. At the clinic, Victoria and Adam are given bad news.

With Ross having rejected Rebecca’s offer of money, the Barton brothers turn to Moira for help.

Elsewhere, Pierce takes a mystery phone call, rebuffing the caller while Rhona is torn about the situation between her and Vanessa.

Emmerdale, Tuesday at 7pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: Hollyoaks

The ‘Pub of the Year’ judge arrives just as beer sprays out of a keg and drenches Ellie. The judge is impressed with the pub regardless, but Ellie might ruin her own chances when she gets the wrong end of the stick.

Marnie is delighted that her pill swap worked when she finds an exhausted, dishevelled Mac on the sofa. She’s discussing the next phase of her plan with James when Tom confronts them. Marnie and James are caught in a lie and have to change their plan to avoid being caught. Tom finds Mac asleep on the sofa, smelling of whiskey, and is alarmed when Mac chases him into the pub thinking he’s Nathan. Ellie wakes her Dad, leaving him confused and frightened about what’s happening to him.

Elsewhere, Peri gets her wires crossed when she finds a bracelet that Zack has given Leela; Nick flips at Yasmine when she offends him; and Holly finds out that Alfie was behind the trolling website.

Hollyoaks, Tuesday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.

An incapacitated Valerie makes various demands on the other staff and to make matters worse gets a bell that she rings every time she needs assistance. Karen suggests Valerie may be hamming up her injury to Mrs Tembe, who gives her short shrift. Later Valerie’s bell goes missing. Ruhma is convinced Karen took it and Heston jokingly calls Karen a common thief, Mrs Tembe hears all of this and assumes they are talking about JJ. Mrs Tembe launches into a speech claiming JJ was questioned about the cashpoint robberies and yes he has a criminal past but he is entirely innocent! Ruhma reveals they were talking about Valerie’s missing bell. Mrs Tembe is mortified. Ruhma tries to cover by suggesting Mrs Tembe and JJ come to dinner. Mrs Tembe accepts, leaving Heston worried about having dinner with a criminal!

Meanwhile Ruhma has lunch with her friend Megan, who is a psychiatrist. Megan soon asks Ruhma a favour; could she get her a meeting with Mrs Tembe? She would love the opportunity to work at the Mill… Ruhma puts the idea to an interested Mrs Tembe.

Elsewhere, Al suffers from foot in mouth disease, when he seriously offends a breastfeeding mother; Ayesha searches for her brother Karl on the streets.

Doctors, Tuesday at 1.45pm on BBC One.
