ITV’s coverage of the 6 Nations will be led by Mark Pougatch as the channel’s main anchor throughout the tournament.
“I am delighted to be presenting ITV’s coverage of the 6 Nations which is always a highlight of the sporting calendar. I am looking forward to working with the hugely talented pundits and continuing my enjoyable association with ITV Sport.” – Mark Pougatch
Mark’s appointment to the role follows the announcement earlier this year that ITV had won the rights to show the RBS 6 Nations for the first time in its history in a new shared deal with the BBC, which secured free to air coverage for the tournament from 2016 to 2021.
Taking effect from next year, the deal marks the rugby union tournament’s debut on the commercial network while extending BBC Sport’s current contract, allowing fans to continue to access the championship across BBC TV, radio and online.
Under the terms of the deal, ITV will show live coverage of all England, Ireland and Italy home matches and the BBC will show live coverage of all Scotland, Wales and France home matches.
“Mark is a sports broadcaster of the highest calibre and will bring to our 6 Nations coverage the knowledge and expertise required to complement the first class live action we’re all anticipating.” – Niall Sloane, ITV Director of Sport
It was announced in July that the BBC and ITV would share the coverage.
