EyeSpy: Hollyoaks’ Anniversary Week

Hollyoaks 20 years promo

It’s party time down in Hollyoaks as the Channel 4 soap opera notches up two decades on air. In celebration a trailer promoting a ‘killer week’ has been unleashed by production company Lime Pictures.

“British television audiences have a rich history of loving soaps and I think what Hollyoaks offers is a unique twist on that. It’s on at 6.30pm, so whether you are just in from school, college or work, you can throw your bag down in the corner and have 25 minutes of pure escapism. While Hollyoaks has adapted and grown over the years, we’ve always offered a mix of big stories, romance and issues that appeal directly to a young audience and I think that is at the heart of our enduring appeal.” – Hollyoaks Executive Producer, Bryan Kirkwood.

Highlights include new developments in the serial’s Gloved Hand Killer plot and James Redmond reprising his role as Rory Finnegan.

The soap is set in the fictional borough of Hollyoaks, in Chester, first broadcast on Channel 4 back in October 1995. Written by Brookside and Grange Hill creator Phil Redmond the series, on its birthday later this week, will have aired 4,240 episodes.

Hollyoaks airs weeknights on Channel 4 at 6.30pm.
