Richard Keys resigns over sexism row

Sky Sports Football Presenter Richard Keys has resigned after his part in the sexism row that already seen the sacking of fellow colleague Andy Gray.

Richard Keys, Andy Gray and Andy Burton were all caught up in controversy last weekend while discussing Premier League Lines-woman Sian Massey, questioning her ability and making other derogatory comments.

Since Saturday both Keys and Gray were given Monday Night Football off as a ban but further footage emerged of Gray making inappropriate comments to fellow Sky Sports presenter Charlotte Jackson. News broke of Gray’s sacking yesterday afternoon at around 4.15pm

Last night further footage of Richard Keys appeared on Youtube; the video featured the former TV-am and Good Morning Britain personality making inappropriate comments to Jamie Redknapp about an ex-girlfriend Redknapp dated. Richard Keys was live on Talksport earlier this afternoon where he spoke over a long interview, and mentioned how he didn’t know if he wanted to carry on without Andy Gray. He was at a meeting at Sky and the news broke at just before 7pm this evening.

Despite this not being the first time Keys has been caught in a microphone gaff, people thought he and Gray should remain with Sky Sports, other viewers have disagreed noting in a workplace the comments are a sackable offence.

Meanwhile for reporter Andy Burton, it currently looks like his job may well be safe; but with both Andy Gray and Richard Keys gone, it does leave a massive hole in the coverage at Sky Sports. They will need to hire or promote a new presenter, co-commentator and lead analyst.
