Bets on for ‘Stacey & Joe: This Is Us’ to be axed

The Beeb trying to capture the ‘Netflix audience’ appears to have not worked for many viewers this time…

New BBC reality show Stacey & Joe: This Is Us has been panned by critics and viewers – and now the betting experts at betideas.com have delivered their own damning verdict. The BBC One programme – which goes behind the scenes at home with Stacey Solomon, Joe Swash and their kids – only started this week.

But one viewer wrote on X that the show was “utter trash”. Others posted that it was “a colossal waste of public money” and told the BBC to “stop wasting our licence fee”. Not so much ‘This is Us’ possibly more ‘This is S*it’.

betideas.com spokesman Shane Orton reacted to our Stacey & Joe odds saying:

“It’s difficult to remember the last time a high-profile BBC show got such a kicking from the viewers. We think there’s no way that the BBC will film a second series – especially with the licence fee such a sensitive issue at the moment. They can’t say the show is value for money when so many viewers hate it. It’s not unheard of for broadcasters to move unpopular shows to a quieter slot – and we wouldn’t be surprised if that’s exactly what happens here.”

And the backlash has been so great that the odds on it NOT being recommissioned for a second series are 2/7 (78% chance).

The first episode went out at 8pm on Tuesday, April 1 and the second episode is currently due to be aired at the same time on Tuesday, April 8. But it is 4/6 (60% chance) that it will be binned from the prime slot before the series is over.

It’s even very possible that the corporation won’t show the full series. It is 2/1 (33% chance) that it will be pulled before all six episodes are broadcast.
