Vicki Young has been announced as the new presenter of Politics Live.
Vicki is a familiar face to viewers as the Deputy Political Editor at the BBC, a position she has held since 2020. She has covered eight General Elections, numerous international summits, and has been a presenter on the BBC News Channel and Westminster Hour on Radio 4.
Vicki has worked for the BBC for more than 25 years, starting as a reporter at BBC Wales before joining the parliamentary team at Westminster. She will start her role presenting Politics Live permanently in June.
Vicki Young said:
“I’m delighted to join Politics Live as its next presenter at a time when political events, here and abroad, are of huge interest to our audiences. I’ll be discussing all the key issues with our panellists and politicians, giving them their say of course, but holding them to account too as I know Politics Live viewers expect.
“I want to give a special mention to my friend and talented colleague Jo Coburn. It’s a privilege to follow in her footsteps.”
Politics Live offers a fast-paced and conversational take on the day’s political events – serving audiences with political news, interviews, panel guests and sharp analysis.
Last month the BBC announced that Jo Coburn was standing down as the host of the programme and leaving the corporation after 28 years.
Hilary O’Neill, Executive Editor, Politics, said:
“Vicki’s depth of political expertise and ability to communicate complex stories with clarity is a perfect fit for Politics Live. She is already well-known to UK audiences and we look forward to viewers getting to know her further.”
