Hits Radio regional breakfast shows axed

Bauer Media Radio have announced more changes for the Hits Radio offering…

Hits Radio is to have one single national Breakfast show introduced to schedules across England and Wales from June 9th 2025. This change marks the end of the current regional Breakfast shows, which will broadcast for the final time on June 6th.

Simon Myciunka, CEO of Bauer Media Audio UK:

“We continually evolve to meet audience behaviours and advertiser needs and by launching one single national Breakfast show across Hits Radio, we are supercharging our efforts to provide a more unified, engaging experience across the entire schedule while also retaining local news and information.”

Both Hits Radio and Greatest Hits Radio will continue to broadcast local news, including traffic and travel information, as well as support disadvantaged young people in the local regions through Bauer Media Group’s charity, Cash for Kids.

In tandem with these programming changes, Bauer Media announces that it will streamline its operations by consolidating its production capabilities into seven key centres located in London, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Belfast. This strategic move is designed to enhance operational efficiency while continuing to deliver high-quality content to listeners nationwide.

Simon Myciunka, CEO of Bauer Media Audio UK:

“I’d like to extend my thanks to our Hits Radio Breakfast teams in England and Wales as they embark on their final run of shows. Their significant contribution has played a hugely important part of the Hits Radio story so far and we wish them well for the future.”

Listeners can tune in to the Hits Radio national breakfast show from June 9th via FM, DAB digital radio, smart speakers, on the Rayo app and online at hitsradio.co.uk
