Pick of the Plots: Friday 28th March

Today’s storylines from the UK and Australian soaps….

As Daisy ruminates over Jenny’s recent windfall and wonders how long she intends to keep it a secret, Jenny offers Carla £60k in part-payment of her debt. Unimpressed, Carla suggests she use the money for a business loan then she can pay off the whole debt.

As Jenny looks after Bertie, she’s distracted by a call from the bank. In the garden at No.4, Bertie spots his football floating in the hot tub. As Steve and Cassie head out for a saucy dip, they are horrified to see Bertie in the water.

As a frantic Jenny searches the street, Steve and Cassie emerge with Bertie. Daisy reads the riot act to Jenny as they take Bertie to hospital, pointing out he could have drowned, just like Tom. Jenny’s beside herself. Will Bertie be okay?

Meanwhile, Dee-Dee begrudgingly joins James for lunch but suddenly she is wracked with pain. When Dee-Dee suffers another contraction, James helps her out.

At the maternity unit, the midwife explains that what she experienced were false labour pains and the baby isn’t quite ready to come yet. When James reveals how he and Danny got very close to adopting a little boy but it didn’t happen and they were left heartbroken, Dee-Dee’s given food for thought.

Elsewhere, Steve apologises to Cassie for his recent barbed remarks and offers her a cup of tea while he house sits at Tim’s. As things get steamy, Cassie suggests a skinny dip in the hot tub.

April’s experiences set her apart from her friends and soon things take a turn. Marlon and Rhona wonder how they can handle their daughter going forward.

Harper implores John to keep her doubts about the wedding to himself, and he agrees. Right at that moment though, Dana enters, and it’s clear as day that Harper has been crying. Dana interrogates her sister over the tears, and Harper tells her that she’s frustrated by the logistical approach to the wedding planning that seems devoid of any romance. Dana asks – why the rush? This isn’t the 1950s, no one will judge them for pushing the wedding until after the baby arrives – but Harper pushes back, they’ve already made their decision. Dana takes a blunter approach – she’s making a mistake. Is she sure that Tane loves her when he’s clearly so desperate for a baby? Harper doubles down and demands some support from her sister when she clearly needs it most.

Levi arrives at the hospital and pulls Eden away from Tim’s Hospital bedside to tell her that he’ll do everything to keep her safe. Eden confides in Levi that she feels like a hypocrite for chastising him about his affair because she kissed Cash whilst Tim was still unconscious. He responds with some advice – the sooner she accepts her feelings and is honest to Tim, the sooner she will be set free. Eden enters the hospital room, where Tim tells her that he remembers what she said about Cash the night of the accident and he’s happy to move past it. Eden, still wracked with guilt, confesses to him that she kissed Cash while he was unconscious. Tim is incensed and demands that she leave his life for good.

Cash returns to the station, having been reinstated into the department. In an effort to defuse any potential harm Nerida might commit towards Eden, he calls Nerida and apologises that their deal fell through. Townsend and Cash band together to search for more clues, but Levi turns up to the station, furious – they need to be doing more to protect Abigail and Eden. Not only that, but Cash needs to sort out his feelings towards Eden to stop hurting her. Cash turns up at the hospital to apologise to Tim – but he tells him to go to hell, he knows that he kissed Eden. Cash leaves the hospital and calls Eden to check on her safety, but moments before Eden can accept Cash’s call – she is attacked by Nerida armed with a syringe and falls unconscious.
