Today’s storylines from the UK and Australian soaps….

At the police station, a terrified Avani is strip-searched by two female officers and refuses the offer of an appropriate adult in the room.

Suki shows up after getting a heads-up from Jean and is shocked to hear what has happened, but Avani refuses to let her file a complaint. Back at No.41, Priya questions Avani about where she’s been, leading to a heated argument where Avani accuses Priya of being a bad mother.

Soon, Priya finds out about Avani’s detention and strip search, prompting her to storm over to No.27 to vent to Jack about what Avani endured at his police station.

Lily and Amy are appalled by the news, but a humiliated Avani lashes out at Suki and Amy before running away. Once she’s alone at home, Avani breaks down in tears.

On Rob’s orders, Tracy calls Carla. Making out she’s got a business proposition; she asks her to call at No.1 as soon as possible. Carla’s shocked to come face to face with Rob, clearly in pain and clutching a gun. Will Rob make his escape and take Tracy with him, or is it now revenge he has in mind?

Lisa’s horrified to hear there’s a hostage situation. Will she put herself in the line of fire to save Carla and bring Rob to justice or is she too late as a gunshot fires?

Meanwhile, when Eileen reveals how Julie wants to live her final days to the full, Todd sorts a trip to a cocktail bar. As they get glammed up, Julie pretends to take her medication but secretly puts it away.

As they head to the tram, Julie’s suddenly hit by pain and leans on a wall, where a piece of scaffolding falls and narrowly misses her. Site manager Theo apologises, although later tells George that Julie was clearly faking her pain as the scaffolding missed her by miles.

When George reveals that Julie has cancer, Theo’s mortified and tells Todd he’d like to buy her some flowers. Offering him a flirtatious smile, Todd shows him the way.

Elsewhere, Sean nervously slips a glasses case containing the burner phone into Daniel’s schoolbag. Sean calls Dylan in the STC and urges him to look for the case in Daniel’s bag. Dylan understands the coded message and thanks him.

In class, as Daniel deals with an altercation, Dylan takes the opportunity to search his bag but Daniel catches him red handed.

Also, Mick presents Debbie with an invoice for the remaining £150 but Debbie makes it clear she has no intention of paying it. Realising her purse is missing, Debbie accuses Mick of stealing it as Ronnie squares up to him.

Jenny presents Rita with a spa voucher and explains that Daisy’s dad invested shares in her name years ago and she’s expecting a pay out of £60k.

Ella is accused of spiking Chas and causing her collapse. She fights back by claiming that Chas must have an addiction to painkillers.

Chas is unimpressed to find Liam rooting through her cupboard, and he admits that he’s checking on her pill consumption. Furious Chas marches out to confront Ella.

Later, Ella is left distraught that Manpreet wants her to move out immediately.

Meanwhile, love is blossoming between Kammy and Sarah.

Elsewhere, Steph is floundering over the truth of her paternity. Jai takes advantage when he sees her upset and tries to coax information out of her. Noticing that Steph can’t help reacting to every mention of Anthony’s name, Jai presses her further.

Caleb appears with an impromptu cover story for Anthony’s disappearance. Will Jai believe it?

Also, Claudette is disparaging over Charles’s plans for the church’s Easter celebrations.

Eden asks Cash point blank – do they have a future together? He can’t give her a straight answer – things are still too complicated with Nerida on the loose and her safety on the line. Eden finds out that he made a deal with Nerida in exchange for her safety, and she’s floored. He urges her not to leave the house and goes to see Townsend at the station with Gary. He asks him to maintain publicly that he is the prime suspect, because if Nerida finds out that she is under investigation, she could be dangerous.

It’s too late though – Nerida’s details have already been released to the media. Cash tells Eden that the only way she’s safe is by Tim’s side at the hospital where there is police protection. She agrees to stay put. Gary has a private chat with Cash on the beach, reminding him of who’s been at his side through everything – it’s Eden.

Kirby’s protest is in full swing. Rose, who was at the strategy meeting the day before, receives a complaint and is called to stop the demonstration. Kirby doesn’t respond well to the complaint, and when Rose turns up to move them along, she won’t stand down – not until she receives an apology. The protest continues despite a warning, so Rose escalates the order and asks for backup. Kirby and Leah push back against the officers, and in an act of rebellion, Leah spray paints a Contact Agency van.

Leah is arrested for vandalism, and the whole group is taken to the police station for inciting the protest. After Kirby is questioned, they are let off with a slap on the wrist… except for Leah. Leah is questioned at the police station but refuses to stand down. She continues the rally chant before the officers: “Real bodies, real lives, no more filters, no more lies!”

Home and Away airs 1:45pm on Channel 5, at 6pm on 5STAR with first-look screenings of the following edition at 6:30 pm. The series also streams on 5.

Karl admits to Darcy that although he’s upping the recommended dosage of painkillers, he has a handle on it, asking Darcy to keep the information to himself. Darcy keeps his word and offers to help Karl wean off them, which leaves Karl to wonder what he wants in return. Although sceptical, Karl has to accept Darcy’s assertion that he has no ulterior motive and agrees to give Darcy’s treatment plan a go.

When Byron rues how Sadie still refuses to talk to him, the housemates approach Sadie, hoping to sway her. Sadie reluctantly agrees to a visit but isn’t appeased by Byron’s apology and explanation. With Byron needing a break, he and Nicolette decide to join the Gippsland Express with Melanie, taking a trip to visit Vic.

As homicide Detective Rafe Fox begins making routine enquiries about the death, Leo is first up. Aaron is nervous about Leo lying to the police about seeing the deceased on the night of the murder, but Leo believes it’s a harmless omission and urges Aaron to back him. Aaron reluctantly agrees, but when the police find evidence of Aaron’s late-night run by the lake on the night, Aaron is backed into a corner and forced to be honest with the police. Detective Fox confronts Leo for lying about his whereabouts on the night of the death, which is formally being treated as a murder investigation… with Leo as a person of interest.

Holding a gun to his wife, Freddie tries to coax a confession out of Grace for Abe’s murder. Grace realises he’s not thought his plan through…

Joel hears Sienna’s cries for help and Liberty and Martha are shocked to find her on an ambulance stretcher while Diane is shocked to hear that Tony and Marie are engaged. Ro receives a nasty text and Diane tries to reach out to him. With the rest of the family gathering to make a toast, a taunting Arlo warns Ro on the consequences if he tells anyone about the messages. Keeping up appearances, Ro tells his mum he feels better after his and Arlo’s chat.

Diane has a heartfelt conversation with Tony and when Marie walks in she sincerely wishes them the best for their future together.

Grace celebrates with Rex over getting her hands on the other half of the garage believing she’s seen the back of Freddie.

An emotional Gillian tells Maggie that Sonny checked himself out of hospital after receiving bad news – he has liver failure. Maggie’s words of support fall flat with Sonny claiming it’s too late for him – he might as well drink because his life is over.

Maggie berates his bad attitude and reveals some harsh home truths about what will happen to him if he drinks again. However, Sonny doesn’t want to hear it and reacts angrily.

Taking matters into her own hands, Maggie rushes to the Tall Ship to tell Caitlin not to sell booze to Sonny. Concerned her mother is too involved, Caitlin urges Maggie to focus on her own sobriety and stay away from Sonny.

Elsewhere, Amber feels worse for wear after a night out with Angus. Later, a chance encounter makes Amber question whether she’s got a hangover or if there’s something else going on. Back at the flat, Amber tells a stunned Angus she thinks she might be pregnant but fears it’s too much, too soon for the new couple.

Mikey is unnerved when Jonathon’s memory is sparked, recalling a violent incident from their past. Horrified by this, Jonathon asks Mikey to open up about what really happened between them. Worried about what will happen if he’s honest, Mikey holds on to Jonathon’s promise that they can start making good memories together and put the past behind them.
