Coleen Nolan: from a podcast to a pygmy goat

“I’m just happy to wake up everyday and on days when I do feel a bit down, I just think my two sisters would love to be here feeling down or stressed so it’s an absolute blessing that you’re still here, you’re right.”…

Today on Good Morning Britain, Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid were joined by Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan as she reflected on her recent milestone birthday and her latest project Loose Women: The Podcast.

Richard asked: “Describe for me what you find being 60 is like, is it as bad as you expected? Is it better than you expected?”

Coleen responded: “I never expected it to be anything, I’m loving it so far, but I’ve only been (60) a week. Everyone keeps going, ‘Oh, 60!’ and I’m thinking, is it bad, 60? I found my 50’s hard, 50’s were really hard.”

Susanna admitted: “Don’t say that in this studio because Charlotte is hurtling towards 50 and is worried about it! I think that ageing is a blessing.”

Coleen agreed: “Well exactly, because everything I’ve been through recently, I’m just happy to wake up everyday and on days when I do feel a bit down, I just think my two sisters would love to be here feeling down or stressed so it’s an absolute blessing that you’re still here, you’re right.”

As the conversation continued, Coleen went on to explain: “My 50s were only hard because my second marriage was falling apart, I was going through the menopause, my kids were at an age where they were fleeing the nest… Now I’ve come through it, I’m living my best life.”

Susanna then turned the talk to Coleen’s latest project as she said: “And in fact you’re getting looser because you’re doing the Loose Women: The Podcast.” – which is available to watch on ITVX and listen wherever you get your podcasts now.

Coleen replied: “I am, I did my first one, it’s out on Friday.”

Richard asked: “How are they different from the programme?”

Discussing the format of the new podcast, Coleen explained: “Well, there’s two of us doing it on each one and also you have more time to discuss things. We’re doing different topics.”

Richard added: “Are you saying stuff that you can’t usually say at lunch time on ITV1? Do you swear a bit?”

Coleen replied: “I did it with Katie Piper and we did a Q&A. We got all the questions in from viewers and it was good stuff, like what happens in the advert break… We can talk about stuff for ages and have a laugh.”

“I’ve known Katie for years now and I found out stuff about her yesterday that I still didn’t know!”

Conversation then moved to Coleen’s love for animals as Susanna asked: “Has she just found out that you’ve got a farm? This was a childhood dream.”

Coleen replied: “Everyone knows I’ve got a farm, childhood dream, I’m the only one in my family that’s obsessed with animals. I got a goat for my birthday from my neighbour, she came around with a baby pygmy goat for me.”

Richard joked: “Was it gift wrapped?”

To which Coleen replied: “It was eventually because it was wrapped in my coat! It was my childhood dream, even when I was performing my dad would say you need to own a farm and then the day I got the house which was only last year, we moved in in June I got really emotional because my dad’s not here anymore and I thought, “I did it dad.”
