ITV has released new first-look images from the second series of Malpractice.
The anthology series returns to ITV and ITVX in Spring 2025 following its widely praised debut in 2023.
Written and created by Grace Ofori-Attah, the new series sees the return of Helen Behan and Jordan Kouamé as Dr. Norma Callahan and Dr. George Adjei of the Medical Investigation Unit (MIU), who are once again called in to investigate a doctor accused of malpractice.

Joining them for the second series are Tom Hughes, Selin Hizli, Zoë Telford, along with Hannah McClean, Seraphina Beh, Rick Warden and Ace Bhatti.
When on-call psychiatric registrar Dr. James Ford (Tom Hughes) finds himself juggling the postnatal check-up of a nervous new mother and the urgent need to section a psychotic patient, the tragic outcome is unforeseen. Norma Callahan and George Adjei from the MIU are brought in to scrutinize Dr. Ford’s decisions.

TOM HUGHES as Dr. James Ford
His personal life is chaotic, and while some colleagues may view him as arrogant, Dr. Ford shows a genuine dedication to his vulnerable patients. However, what seems like a series of poor decisions by one doctor has repercussions that extend beyond the psychiatric unit, revealing a hospital in turmoil.
With the investigation closing in, can Dr Ford save his already fragile career from a string of apparently damning mistakes? And can the MIU uncover the truth of what happened despite fierce opposition from all sides?

Speaking on his involvement in the series, Tom Hughes said:
“I couldn’t be more delighted to be playing James and helping bring to life Grace’s pertinent and important piece [of writing], which stopped me in my tracks when I read it. I hope the audience, when they see it, are equally as gripped and engaged by it, as I was.”
Malpractice is produced by World Productions, in association with and distributed by ITV Studios.
The first series had the most watched launch episode of a new drama on ITV1 in 2023 with 6.7m viewers.
