Dream Car Fixers returns to U&Yesterday

The show is back for a second series this coming week on UKTV…

Car mechanic Sheldon Nichols and bodywork expert Peter Harriott are back to make motoring dreams come true.

With fans of classic cars prepared to pay premium prices for the right motor, there’s money to be made but only if they buy the right cars and don’t discover any nasty surprises once they’re back in the workshop. Sheldon and Peter have 80 years of motoring expertise between them. Margins are always tight, fixes are never straightforward but there’s no better feeling than making their customers happy.

In the first episode of this six-part series it’s all about the Ford Anglia.

Back in the 70s Steve loved his magical Anglia complete with a specially upgraded engine, what chance do Sheldon and Peter have of recreating the exact same combination 50 years later? Sheldon and Peter are faced with a genuine motoring conundrum. Client Steve is desperate to recreate his first ever car – a Ford Anglia 105e with a 1.5-litre engine. But Anglias only came with a 1-litre or 1.3-litre engine, meaning Sheldon must source not only a car but also a replacement power plant.

It’s no picnic for Peter either.

With rusting bodywork and no replacement panels available, he’s forced to fabricate a new front valance from scratch. To do so, he has to enlist the help of long-time friend and master engineer Will Trickett who arrives with an arsenal of traditional equipment, to fix a problem the old school way.
