The crime drama starring Matthew Lewis is currently in production in the West Midlands…
Today further details on Murder Before Evensong has been revealed by Channel 5. The six-episode drama starring Matthew Lewis is based on the first novel in the Sunday Times best-selling series by British author the Reverend Richard Coles and will air later this year on Channel 5 and Acorn TV worldwide.
Joining Lewis, who stars as “Canon Daniel Clement,” are: Amanda Redman as “Audrey,” Amit Shah as “DS Neil Vanloo,” Adam James as “Bernard De Floures,” Meghan Treadway as “Honor De Floures,” newcomer Alexander Delamain as “Alex De Floures,” Marion Bailey as “Kath,” Amanda Hadingue as “Dora,” Tamzin Outhwaite as “Stella Harper,” Francis Magee as “Edgy,” and Nina Toussaint-White as “Jane Thwaite.”

Daniel (Lewis) shares Champton rectory with his widowed mother – opinionated, fearless, ever-so-slightly annoying Audrey (Redman) – and his two dachshunds, Cosmo and Hilda. When Daniel announces a plan to install a lavatory in the church, the parish is suddenly (and unexpectedly) divided: as lines are drawn, long-buried secrets come dangerously close to destroying the apparent calm of the village.
Later a body is found dead at the back of the church, stabbed in the neck with a pair of secateurs. As the police move in and the bodies start piling up, Daniel is the only one who can try and keep his fractured community together… and catch a killer.
“The series has begun filming in the West Midlands, UK with support from the West Midlands Production Fund. Acorn TV maintains worldwide rights to Murder Before Evensong outside of the UK with AMC Networks handling global content sales.” – Channel 5

I take it the lead doesn’t pretend to have Aids just for a lark like its creator did?
