“While football is primarily a game of skill, there is an element of luck involved in every game. For example, almost all football fans will remember a time when their team dominated weaker opposition while missing numerous chances to score, only to concede a goal from a single lucky counterattack. Although this does not take away from the skill and hard work involved in the sport, it’s safe to say that every football fan has accused their team of being ‘unlucky’ after losing a game.
“It’s fascinating to see which teams are ‘unluckier’ than others based on stats. For example, while Chelsea are currently high in the league, they have certainly faced their fair share of bad luck after repeatedly hitting the woodwork in an attempt to score.”
