Pick of the Plots: Monday 27th January

Martin is upset with Ruby, disapproving of her approach to Councillor Barker. Although Barker declares that the market will remain open, Martin’s opinion doesn’t waver.

In a bid to prove Martin wrong, Ruby finds Barker and tries to put things right. Just as the celebrations begin, Martin receives a call to his stall, where an angry Barker informs him that it’s being shut down due to a supposed health and safety issue.

Meanwhile, Anna remains suspicious of Gina, particularly when she sees her having another secretive chat with Harry.

Junior is devastated when Monique cuts off his access to Xavier because he’s a suspect in an attempted murder case. Things come to a head in The Vic when Junior exposes a shocking secret about Gina.

Elsewhere, Sonia doesn’t believe Bianca is guilty, but Reiss is determined to close down her questions. Sonia fiercely defends her sister in public.

Reiss is rattled as Sonia resolves to speak to the CPS to get a copy of the ‘confession’. He insists she drops it for the baby’s sake, but a conversation with Jack gives Sonia reason to believe Reiss isn’t being honest with her.

Shona leaves the house, unaware that a man in a van is watching her. As the van drives off at high speed, Shona’s mobile phone lies in the gutter. In the back of the van, Shona bangs on doors and shouts for help, but nobody hears her.

David is taken aback when he realises Shona hasn’t arrived at work, prompting him to rush to the police station to inform Kit about the situation. Later, David assets that he will find somewhere else to stay as Harvey’s more likely to come after him. Calling at Nick’s flat, he shares his fears about his family’s safety.

Meanwhile, at No.1, Cassie makes the tea and slips some antihistamine into Ken’s cup. Adam and Alya drop by to find Ken looking decidedly peaky.

Ken opens his bank account and is confused to see some unusual transactions. Tracy takes a look and confronts Cassie with a transaction for hair products. She accuses her of stealing from Ken, but can Cassie explain? Believing her to be innocent, Ken asks Cassie if she’d consider moving into No.1 full-time, Cassie’s delighted and accepts immediately.

Elsewhere, Leanne is forced to wear a high vis jacket and pick up litter whilst having to deal with teenagers heckling her. Annoyed, she storms into the Bistro and demands Toyah pours her a glass of champagne, which is where Nick finds her when he arrives with Sam.

Also, when Kevin reveals that he’s got testicular cancer, Dev’s shocked and Abi’s worried sick, but does her best to appear positive. Abi tells Nina how Mason’s death has reignited her grief over Seb and now she’s worried about Kevin’s health too.

In The Rovers, Dev and Bernie share the exciting news of their engagement. Aadi, Asha, Chesney, Gemma, and Summer are thrilled for them. However, things take a turn when the police show up at their home. What do they want?
