Jonathan Ross returns to host ITV’s Oscars Awards coverage

ITV will premiere the 97th Oscars ceremony and red-carpet coverage, offering a night of exclusive free-to-air programming across Channel 3 in the UK and on streaming services ITVX and STV Player.

The 96th Oscars ceremony in 2024 proved a hit with UK audiences, and now building on this success for 2025, ITV’s programming promises to deliver audiences more of what they love, from the highly coveted awards show to the star-studded red carpet and everything in between.

Jonathan Ross is back to oversee proceedings. The renowned film enthusiast and broadcaster will host ITV’s coverage of the Oscars, bringing UK audiences closer to the action with live commentary, special celebrity guests and film experts, and live chats with all the stars on the red carpet.

On the night itself, Sunday 2nd March, viewers can join Jonathan Ross live on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player as he hosts a special show bringing all of Hollywood’s action to UK viewers, including live coverage of the Oscars red carpet with Ross King broadcasting directly from the event at the Dolby® Theatre in Hollywood, followed by the coveted awards ceremony which begins at midnight. Like last year, he’ll be joined by movie-loving guests to remark on Hollywood’s biggest night of the year.

Prior to the night, ITV and ITVX will deliver a raft of Oscars-themed programming with Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, This Morning, Loose Women and ITV News all covering the latest Oscars news and build up.

ITVX will also broadcast the upcoming ’97th Oscars® Nominations Announcement’ show live in full this Thursday 23rd January at 1:10pm. Hosted by ITV News broadcaster Lucrezia Millarini with Arts Editor Nina Nannar, they’ll delve into the runners and riders and guide viewers through events as the cream of the Hollywood crop find out who is in with a chance of scooping a famed gold statuette.
