Disney+ will bring to viewers Caroline, an Original feature length documentary…
The production will celebrate the life and career of one of the UK’s most popular TV presenters Caroline Flack and follows Christine, Caroline’s mother, as she seeks to understand the events in the final months of her daughter’s life.
Gaby Aung, Senior Manager, Unscripted, Disney+:
“We’re privileged to be working with Christine Flack and our production partners at Curious, as we follow a family’s pursuit for answers and celebrate Caroline’s legacy five years on from her tragic death.”
The documentary will feature first hand testimony, among them Caroline’s family and friends, as Christine embarks on a journey to uncover the truth around the circumstances that led to Caroline tragically taking her own life in 2020.
From the same production company that produced Caroline Flack: Her Life and Death for Channel 4, the factual film looks deeper into the life of the Love Island presenter with still many ‘unanswered questions’ remaining about the end of her life.
On February 15th 2020 the news broke that the 40-year-old presenter’s body had been discovered at her home, with a legal representative for the family confirming the cause of death as suicide. In a statement at the time, it was noted: ‘We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today, the 15th of February. We would ask that the press respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time’. The request of privacy followed weeks of tabloid press intrusion on the family due to her private life making headlines for two months in the run-up to her tragic demise.
At the time it was reported that the actress and presenter was arrested at her home in Islington, North London on December 12th after an incident with her boyfriend. She was charged with assaulting former professional tennis player and model Lewis Burton by beating and had been due to stand trial in March 2020. The CPS chose to pursue the case against Flack despite Burton pledging his loyalty to her and noting that he didn’t want to press charges.

Christine Flack:
“I still have so many questions about what happened to Caroline in her final months, and it’s something I feel deeply compelled to explore, even though I know it will be challenging. I’m pleased to be working with the team at Curious Films once again, in the hope of bringing clarity and understanding to Carrie’s story – not just for her, but for everyone who cared about her.”
Flack quit Love Island in the wake of her arrest not wanting her personal circumstances to ‘detract’ from the show. She wrote on Instagram: “Love Island has been my world for the last five years, it’s the best show on telly. In order not to detract from the attention of the upcoming series I feel the best thing I can do is stand down for Series 6.” She was replaced by Laura Whitmore for the first ever winter series of the ITV2 dating show.
Flack started her telly gigs on The International Pepsi Chart Show and had a minor role in 2001 film Is Harry on the Boat?. Between 2002-2004 she played Michael Jackass’s long-suffering girlfriend, Bubbles, in Channel 4’s Bo’ Selecta! Other early presenting roles include CBBC at the Fame Academy and The Games for E4.
The late noughties saw Flack replace Kirsty Gallacher as the host of Sky One’s revival of Gladiators and then helm ITV2’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! NOW!. Caroline went on to co-host The Xtra Factor with Olly Murs and later Matt Richardson before presenting the main X Factor show with Murs in 2015. She also took part in and won the twelfth series of BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2014 with her professional dance partner Pasha Kovalev.
In 2022 an intimate ‘day festival’ was held to celebrate Caroline’s life with comedy, dance and musical acts at the ‘Flackstock‘ event. The celebration was held at the Englefield Estate following on from the summer concerts as part of Heritage Live.
Dov Freedman, Executive Producer, Curious Films:
“It’s not often that you feel the need to return to a subject, but nearly five years after Caroline’s tragic death, we know there are still many unanswered questions for Christine and her family that need to be addressed. We’re proud to be collaborating with the Flack family once again, working together to seek some form of resolution to the tragic events surrounding Caroline’s death.”
The film will be produced by Curious Films and will air on Disney+ later in 2025.
