A fin-tastic tribute…
With less than a week to go from the release of the telly adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s Tiddler, SEA LIFE London Aquarium has announced the renaming of one of its Milkfish to pay tribute to the little fish who tells the tallest tales.
Before the reveal of the newly named Milkfish as Tiddler, actress, singer and TV presenter Hannah Waddingham, who leads the cast as the narrator of the magical animation, visited SEA LIFE London Aquarium and came nose to fin with the fish and his other aquatic friends in the attraction’s Open Oceans habitat.
Milkfish are a widespread species of ray-finned fish found throughout the Indo-Pacific. They can grow up to 1.8m, reach a weight of 14kg and live for up to 15 years. It’s their silvery complexions and near identical resemblance to Donaldson and Scheffler’s Tiddler creation which made SEA LIFE London Aquarium’s Milkfish the perfect doppelganger.
SEA LIFE London Aquarium has renamed one of its Milkfish after the leading character in the latest TV adaptation of a book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler – Tiddler!
Catherine Pritchard, General Manager at SEA LIFE London Aquarium:
“We were delighted to welcome the superstar that is Hannah Waddingham into SEA LIFE London Aquarium to be among the first to meet our newly named Tiddler. Like many of our guests, we wait with bated breath each year to find out which of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s stories will be made into a TV adaptation. When we found out this year it would be Tiddler, we simply knew we had to mark the occasion in our own unique way.”
Tiddler is the story of a small grey fish with a big imagination who gets lost in the deep wide ocean until he’s saved by his own storytelling. Tiddler airs at 2.35pm on Christmas Day on BBC One.
Guests can meet the real-life Tiddler at SEA LIFE London Aquarium, which is open seven days a week and situated on the South Bank. For the latest opening times, feeding times, prices and more see http://www.visitsealife.com/london/
