Christmas Eve in the UK soaps…

Fearing for her future, Cindy concocts a plan that shocks her family.

George invites Cindy and the Beale family to celebrate together at The Vic. However, things take a turn for Cindy when she uncovers another troubling piece of information.

Meanwhile, Kim and the market traders get a shock when the wrong calendar arrives. Later, the residents of Walford gather in the Square for the choir service.

Nicola is jealous of Teddy and Sharon’s cosy display as Phil continues to shut out the world at No.55.

Elsewhere, Yolande makes amends with Patrick and heads to church to meet other women who were assaulted by Pastor Clayton on the day of his burial.

Yolande is buoyed by the occasion, and having rediscovered her faith, heads to the community Centre to lend a hand.

Also, Denise and Ravi share a warm exchange as he promises to keep her safe.

EastEnders, BBC One, Christmas Eve at 7.45pm 

At Gail and Jesse’s farewell party in The Rovers, tensions are high between the Platt family.

With Audrey refusing to give her blessing to Gail, she resorts to taking one last desperate measure to stop Gail from leaving and reveals that Jesse and David have been up to no good behind her back. Will this last-ditch attempt stop the wedding?

Later, as an upset and exhausted Gail drifts in and out of sleep on the sofa, she has a surprise visitor… will they help her decide what to do?

Meanwhile, as Debbie tries to interest Shona in her New Year’s Eve party, Shona is dismissive leaving Debbie taking offence, pointing out she seemed quite at home in the hotel the other night. As David overhears the end of the conversation, have his suspicions been confirmed?

Elsewhere, after sneaking a look inside Nick’s briefcase, Leanne is furious to see a wrapped Christmas present for Toyah. Leanne calls at the station and shows Craig a pile of presents from Nick to Toyah, making out that they are in it together.

Belle considers visiting Tom to get some answers over what really happened to Piper.

Meanwhile, as April struggles following her recent discoveries, she infuriates Marlon by continuing to push the boundaries at home.

Part One

Nana and Myra return on Christmas Eve and are shocked to see Mercedes so unwell.  Mercedes shares her diagnosis and Myra is upset that she didn’t tell her sooner.

Interrupting the family reunion, Freddie climbs into a window and declares his love for Mercedes. Mercedes enjoys secretly spending time with Freddie, who suggests they should run away together tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Grace finally makes amends with Rex.

Elsewhere, Misbah rebukes Grace for banning Mercedes from a Christmas party.

Also, Myra returns from the hospital with good news to share about Cleo.

Part Two

Christmas Day arrives in the village and Freddie wakes up in Mercedes’ bedroom. He suggests that they should take a romantic break to a cottage to escape her problems for a while.

When the McQueens spot Freddie sneaking out, they are pleased for Mercedes. However, Myra is not happy when she realises that Mercedes is planning to run away. What will Mercedes do?

Meanwhile, Grace tries to put on a brave face for Curtis as they head to The Dog for Christmas dinner.

Elsewhere, Vicky continues to hide her secret from Robbie. Later, she suggests to him that they should get married.

Also, Misbah and Donny enjoy their first Christmas an engaged couple.
