Pick of the Plots: Monday 19th August

Reiss is a nervous wreck as he faces Phil’s deadline. He tries to convince Sonia to go out for the day, but she refuses. Sonia is touched when Kathy offers to throw her an engagement party.

Phil turns up on the doorstep raging, and Reiss is forced to tell Sonia about the deadline that is now up. Teddy and Sharon intervene to cool things down, and Sonia is able to buy them some time by pleading with Sharon.

Later, Teddy decides to take on the debt from Phil. Reiss shakes on the deal, hoping it’s not too good to be true.

Meanwhile, Junior and Gina settle into life as flatmates. George keeps up the pressure on Gina to find out who Junior’s mystery woman is. Cindy spots Gina trying to break into Junior’s phone at Beales Eels, and Gina admits what she’s up to, which Cindy quickly relays to Junior.

Later, Cindy is angry when Junior fails to show up for a meet-up, and things get worse when she arrives in The Vic and finds him introducing date Maxine to his family. He insists to seething Cindy that it’s just to distract his family.

Elsewhere, Harvey is working himself into the ground, trying to make money for Maya, and Jean is frustrated when he prioritises a job over her.

Also, Kathy returns from America and breaks the news to Phil that Ben is in a bad way, and Ian is staying on to try to get him a better lawyer.

Dee-Dee searches online for the jewellers where Joel made out he bought Maeve’s bracelet. As she looks at other items worth £300, she’s stunned by what she finds.

Dee-Dee visits Lauren in hospital. When Lauren reveals that she’ll soon be moving to Belfast, Dee-Dee covers her shock. As Dee-Dee points out the coincidence to Joel, he gives nothing away. Determined to get to the truth, Dee-Dee follows Joel.

Meanwhile, Ruby makes a fuss of her new brother, while Hope wants nothing to do with Dorin. Alina starts receiving menacing calls and suspects it’s the people traffickers trying to intimidate her. But when Tyrone suggests that Hope might be behind it, she’s furious and denies any involvement.

Elsewhere, Toyah’s mortified when she realises Nick has told David about their fling. Nick apologises and promises he’ll keep his distance from now on.

Also, when Cassie points out that her life in Spain can’t be that great or she wouldn’t be back in Weatherfield, Tracy fumes.
