On Good Morning Britain, Susanna Reid reported live from Berlin ahead of England’s 2024 Euros final against Spain on Sunday and spoke to a number of fans, including Lioness legend Jill Scott.
Footballing icon Chris Kamara – affectionately known to many as Kammy – also joined Susanna live as they spoke to Adil Ray and Kate Garraway back in the studio.
On England reaching the final, Kammy said: “I can’t believe it. We’re in a final. We started off so poorly, you wouldn’t have believed it in the beginning that we would actually get through but we have. So come on, get behind the boys!”
Asked if Gareth Southgate should be made a Sir, if England win the tournament, Kammy said: “Well he will be, won’t he. Sir Keir Starmer will make him a knight of the realm! That’s for sure.”
Kammy also had another request for the newly appointed Prime Minister, as he joked: “And Sir Keir, make sure it’s a bank holiday on Monday! I think everyone would say that basically. We’ve got a great chance, we really have.”

“We’ve improved throughout the whole tournament. In the final game against the Dutch before the final, in that first 45 minutes, we played the best football we have the whole tournament. They couldn’t live with us, basically. So, I know Spain are good. They play progressive football and in that, I mean, they play the ball forward, whereas some teams who play possession football, just keep it and go nowhere. So, we’ve got that to deal with but remember, the best player in Spanish football last year was Jude Bellingham. The best player in the best league in the world, Phil Foden – was our player of the year – so they’ve got two massive players to worry about.”
Confirming he’d be at the game on Sunday, the pundit said: “I don’t want, in my lifetime, that England win a tournament and I’m not there. That’s why I’m here.” Sharing his predictions for the highly anticipated closing game this weekend, Kammy finished their chat telling Susanna: “We’re going to win. It’s written from the beginning by hook or by crook, we’ve got through every single game, and I think we’ll do it on Sunday!”
He however wouldn’t give a match score prediction and explained: “No, just a win! Please don’t let it go to penalties. But will lightning strike twice? I don’t know. Hopefully if it comes, yeah, but we’re gonna win. Come on England!”
While England is being willed to win by the English footie fans, the wider view is Spain has had to beat many more difficult teams than what England have confronted so far, so it remains to be seen if the squad can match up to the Spaniards.
