”Twerking bravura and aching vulnerability” – ★★★★★, The Irish Times
Her one woman comedy cabaret ‘The Coil’s Lament’ garnered acclaim after sold out runs at Edinburgh Fringe and Dublin Fringe Festival in 2023 and now she’s back with more for 2024’s Edinburgh Fringe.
Síomha wants to be a teen pop star. There’s just one problem: she’s about to turn 35. Can she find a loophole? Is there success beyond 30 under 30?
Irish Tik Tok sensation Síomha Hennessy will make a much-awaited return to Edinburgh Fringe in 2024 following last year’s successful run with Award nominated The Coil’s Lament, her hilarious reflection on her period of voluntary celibacy.
This year, Síomha’s laugh-out-loud comedy cabaret ‘30 under 30‘ grapples with questions plaguing late bloomers everywhere: is it ever too late to become the person we want to be? Are we good enough as we are?(hint: no)….and is it possible to be successful in your thirties without having to take part in a Dove ”positive ageing role models” campaign?
Following a sold-out Dublin Fringe run that garnered rave reviews, this uproarious hour is for anyone who’s ever felt out of step with their peers. It will give you hope whilst making you spit your drink out with laughter.
The show features Síomha’s all-new, earworm single ‘This Party’, launching everywhere July 19th. Síomha is an actor, singer, comedian, and presenter from Dublin. Stage roles have included Rosalind in Shakespeare’s As You Like It in The Mill Theatre, Clare in A Delicate Balance, Valerie in ‘The Weir’, and Julia in ‘The Boys’ in The New Theatre, as well as several Irish language projects, voicing a series of children’s stories, and playing Julia in the Irish language radio play’An Chlann’, broadcast on Radió na Gaeltachta. She has appeared in the TG4 series ‘Duirt Bean Liom’ and ‘Teach nó Amach’.
Having ventured into standup comedy in 2019, she has performed in all of Dublin’s established comedy clubs, including Comedy Cellar, Hysteria, Cherry Comedy, The Comedy Crunch and more.
Síomha Hennessy will return to Edinburgh Fringe from 31st July – 26th August
