On this Day 1973: Birmingham Canal Tours

OTD, May 29th 1973…

Peter Green reported from the inland holiday resort at Aston, Birmingham which was run by Chris Malcolm, Bob Hastwell and Ray Grant who at the time were offering  trips on Birmingham’s canal network.

Peter, after speaking with the tour operators, then took a journey on a boat on the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal with Chris, Bob and Ray travelling from Spaghetti Junction to Gas Street Basin. During the journey, they passed through a lock and also passed a group of Perry Common teenagers on a school trip by boat to Salford Bridge. Peter commented on the design of a Horsley Ironworks bridge along the route during the report.
